Compare a pocket router if your group stays together, and individual mobile data if you may split up. Depending entirely on public Wi-Fi adds connection hunting to airport transfers and booking checks.
Choose around your travel pattern
| Situation | Option to compare | Practical cost |
|---|---|---|
| Group stays together all day | One pocket Wi-Fi router | Charging, distance from the holder and loss terms |
| Separate shopping or rest time | Individual SIMs or eSIMs | Device compatibility and total purchase cost |
| Short stay with an existing plan benefit | Home-carrier roaming | Included data and excess charges |
Check collection and return logistics
KT lists SIMs, eSIMs and Wi-Fi routers separately. Seoul’s visitor guide also describes router collection at airport carrier counters. Recheck the exact counter, opening hours and availability for your selected product.
If you arrive and leave through different airports, obtain written confirmation that cross-airport returns are accepted. For an early departure, distinguish staffed counters from return boxes and save the location before returning to the airport.

Compare more than the headline price
- Check whether billing uses calendar days or 24-hour periods and how late returns are charged.
- Read speed reductions and fair-use terms behind “unlimited.” Maximum device connections and practical simultaneous use are different considerations.
- Record deposits, loss charges and included chargers beside the final price. This guide does not quote an unverified flat rate.
Prepare to travel without a connection
Save the accommodation’s Korean address, booking number and airport route on the device. Agree on a meeting place and time before splitting up so the router holder is not the only reachable person.
Match a public network name to the venue’s instructions and consider disabling automatic connections when unnecessary. Use a connection you trust for sensitive payments or account changes.
A few good questions
Can a group split up with one router?
Outside the router’s connection range, it cannot provide access. Anyone travelling separately needs personal data or another communication plan.
Can I leave the airport relying only on its Wi-Fi?
You can save your route and bookings before leaving, but connectivity in transit is not guaranteed. Decide how you will connect and where you will meet first.
Is pocket Wi-Fi always cheapest?
Compare SIM costs for every person against rental days, deposits, return travel and loss terms. Verify the price on the chosen product’s final screen.
