Compare the journey between your actual accommodations, not just the two city names. For rail and bus, check the exact station or terminal; for flights, include airport transfers and check-in; for driving, include parking and vehicle return. Jeju needs a separate flight or ferry leg.

Lcarrion88 · CC BY-SA 4.0 · 2014Which mode should you compare first?
These are KoreaPin’s planning criteria, not a claim that one mode is always fastest or cheapest. Compare actual services for the same date, party and baggage.
| Mode | When to consider it | Include in the comparison |
|---|---|---|
| Train | Accommodation connects conveniently to the departure and arrival stations | Train class, seats, connections and station transfers |
| Express or intercity bus | The terminal is convenient or a bus may reduce rail changes | Exact terminal, intermediate stops, road traffic and baggage rules |
| Flight | Your trip includes Jeju or convenient airport access | Check-in, baggage, airport transfers and change conditions |
| Own or rental car | You meet the driving requirements and plan several outlying stops | Fuel, tolls, parking, insurance, pickup and return |
| Ferry | You are considering a sea crossing to Jeju or taking a vehicle | Port access, a separate vehicle booking, boarding cutoff and cancellations |
Departure and arrival points in six cities
These are starting points for a search, not a complete route list. Stations and terminals in the same city are different places. Keep the location in your search consistent with the location on the ticket.
| City | Gateways to check | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Seoul | Seoul, Yongsan, Cheongnyangni or Suseo Station / Seoul Express, Central City, Dong Seoul or Nambu Terminal | Do not choose a station or terminal from the city name alone. |
| Busan | Busan or Bujeon Station / Nopo bus terminal or Seobu terminal in Sasang / Gimhae Airport | For east-coast rail services, also check Bujeon. Busan Station, Bujeon, Nopo and Sasang are separate locations. |
| Jeju | Jeju International Airport / the arrival port on your ferry booking | Add the island transfer to Jeju City, Seogwipo and your accommodation. |
| Jeonju | Jeonju Station / Jeonju Express Bus Terminal or Jeonju Intercity Bus Terminal | Distinguish the railway, express bus, intercity bus and airport limousine terminals. |
| Gangneung | Gangneung Station / the express or intercity boarding point at Gangneung bus terminal | Match the ticket type to its boarding area and allow an onward trip to the coast or hotel. |
| Daegu | Dongdaegu, Daegu or Seodaegu Station / Dongdaegu transfer centre, Bukbu or Seobu terminal / Daegu Airport | Allow walking between Dongdaegu Station and the transfer centre. Daegu Station does not mean Dongdaegu Station. |

Search by date, gateway and seats
Continue to the related train and bus guides for booking channels and payment conditions. KoreaPin does not search live seat inventory or issue tickets.
- 1. Set your accommodation addresses and travel date, then note when you need to arrive. Start with fixed commitments such as a show or flight.
- 2. Search rail by station and bus by terminal. If nothing appears, distinguish sales not yet open, sold-out services and a route with no service.
- 3. Search outward and return journeys separately, including children, infants and the seats needed. For connections, check each leg’s date, departure point and ticket status.
- 4. At checkout, verify the total, cancellation rules and an accepted payment method. A search result or booking request is not proof that a ticket has been issued.
- 5. Recheck the ticket and official service notices before departure, then match the service number and platform on the departure display.
Compare the whole journey, not just the fare
Total cost = tickets for every traveller on every leg + travel to the departure point + onward travel + any necessary baggage, seat or vehicle extras. Use KRW amounts for the same one-way journey, party and date.
Total time = accommodation to departure point + check-in and waiting + time aboard + connections and baggage collection + onward travel to accommodation. This is a comparison method, not a predicted route time or live calculation.
Do not enter an unknown taxi or baggage charge as zero. Leave it to be checked and total only confirmed costs. If an infant seat or stroller is involved, establish the actual travel conditions before comparing totals.
Put a multi-city trip in order
These are KoreaPin itinerary examples, not products guaranteeing connections, seats or transfer times. One search result does not book the whole trip.
- Seoul → Daegu → Busan: search each leg separately and choose the actual Daegu stop first. Keep sightseeing manageable on travel days.
- Seoul → Gangneung → Busan: when searching rail from Gangneung to Busan, also check Bujeon Station. Rework any hotel transfer that assumed arrival at Busan Station.
- Adding Jeonju: compare rail connection results with the actual bus terminals. Do not assume every bus is direct or that every train journey must go through Seoul.
- Adding Jeju last: plan access to the mainland airport and the onward trip from Jeju Airport separately. If your international flight is on another booking, prepare an alternative for delays.

Separate the Jeju crossing from travel on the island
Search flights by departure airport, airline and date, and check current operations with Jeju Airport. Add baggage collection and the bus or rental-car pickup before estimating when you will reach your accommodation.
For ferries, verify the departure port, arrival port and sailing date with the operator of a currently sold service. Check passenger and vehicle reservations separately, including permission to carry a rental car. Do not treat an older tourism timetable as proof of a current direct sailing.
Continue to the airport comparison for Jeju Airport → Jeju City or Seogwipo. Review each booking’s change and refund terms for the effect of a cancelled sailing or delayed flight.

Check children, bags and late arrivals
- Check the operator’s age categories, separate seats and proof requirements for children and infants. Do not carry a city-bus free-child rule over to rail, coaches or flights.
- Before booking, check permitted sizes, assistance arrangements and station or terminal access for large bags, strollers or wheelchairs.
- For late arrivals, check the last local transport and accommodation check-in together. If onward transport ends before you arrive, compare an earlier service or another hotel location.
- Whether a missed connection permits travel on the next service, and any extra payment, depends on the ticket. Check whether your journey is one booking or separate bookings, and arrange changes with the seller.
A few good questions
Is a train always the best way between Korean cities?
No. Compare the actual stations or terminals, accommodation locations, services on your date, party, bags and connections. This guide does not promise live lowest fares or shortest journey times.
Do all trains to the city of Busan arrive at Busan Station?
No. Bujeon Station is also relevant for east-coast rail trips. Plan the hotel transfer using the exact station on your ticket, not just the city name.
Can I complete a trip to Jeju using only trains or buses?
Plan a separate flight or ferry crossing to Jeju. Include mainland access to the airport or port and the bus or vehicle journey after arrival on the island.
Does saving this guide to Your trip reserve a ticket?
No. Your trip stores guides and plans in this browser. Book, pay for, receive and change transport tickets separately through the official operator or designated seller.
